Donors engagement and feedback: Provide feedback to donors with a high standard as per their donation in varied projects. Attract and retain donors and GAT supporters. Women’s Refuge Support Worker (BAME)

Company description The EHUK project, part of the charity Muslim Welfare House, is a chain of women’s refuges specialising in supporting and housing BAME victims. The project was started in 2016 with a refuge in the West Mids, then steadily grew to offer services in London, West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire. We take pride in offering culturally and religiously sensitive services and accommodation to victims from many different backgrounds. We are members of Women’s Aid and work alongside many different professional agencies. Job description Description: This role requires an exceptional individual who wants to make a difference. As a Refuge Worker, you will be responsible for providing high quality practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic violence and their children living in our refuges. You will support with the smooth running of the refuge, including the admission of survivors of domestic violence and other contexts to the refuge. You will also assess and advise on their entitlement to welfare and housing benefits and housing management. You will develop support plans for each resident and aid them to obtain permanent accommodation. The successful candidate will have evidence of strong casework management skills, good written and verbal communication, and an understanding of the importance of maintaining professional boundaries. You will be required to bring safeguarding children or vulnerable adults to the immediate attention of the service manager, or if unavailable another manager. To arrange for the provision of legal advice as required and accompany women to appointments where appropriate, by arrangement with the line manager. To arrange regular house meetings and seek resident feedback, keeping clear minutes and records of all residents’ comments and concerns, and of outcomes in conjunction with the line manager. To refer residents to specialist agencies where appropriate as part of their support plan. To make risk assessments (dash) in relation to service users; to act upon and inform the line manager of any risks. To communicate immediately with the line manager any breaches of security, house rules or licence agreements especially where there is concern about safety or safeguarding. With residents, explore and assess their housing needs and inform them of housing options. Advocate on their behalf presenting their cases as required. To keep up to date with literature on domestic violence as well as the effects of domestic violence e.g. through reading and training. To ensure that all women and children are able to access a quality service in accordance with EHUK equal opportunities policy. To bring any problems in accessing the service to the attention of the manager. To ensure that any issues in relation to Child Protection matters are brought to the immediate attention of the line manager. To ensure that rent payments and service charges are collected promptly, properly receipted and secured in the allocated place. To carry out regular fire and health and safety checks in accordance with EHUK policies and procedures. To carry out risk assessment in respect of property and report any required action points to the line manager. To control access to the refuge when on duty and remind residents to keep building secure when staff are not present. To check daily and ensure efficient working of any entry phone system and effective operation of any security television systems. To ensure that all equipment i.e. fridges, washing machines, cookers, heating, furniture etc. are in safe working order and for periodic testing and maintenance as required by the manager. Ensure that emergency lighting is working and regularly check the safety condition of any children’s play facilities. Ensure fire equipment and fire doors are in working order and not obstructed. To ensure that residents follow the cleaning and bin rotas and change the rota when a resident arrives or leaves. To clean and prepare vacant rooms with fresh bedding etc for re-letting, personally carry out cleaning when required and other light manual duties as needed. To undertake petty cash responsibilities as required by the line manager. To provide any reports or monitoring statistics as required. To ensure that the office doors and filing cabinets are secured on leaving the building and during working hours. To work within the confines of confidentiality and ensure that professional boundaries are always maintained when working with residents, staff and external bodies. To ensure that security of sensitive information and data is maintained. To attend any meetings or training either internal or external as requested by the line manager. To work within and implement all EHUK policies and procedures, especially those on Individual Support, User Involvement, Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, Confidentiality and Security.
